Israel

Of the 200,000 elderly survivors living in Israel today, nearly one-third live in poverty. Thousands of them do not take advantage of all their rights under the law and various programs. They are unaware of benefits due them from Israel's Finance Ministry, from Germany, from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany, from the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel, and other agencies.
Even professionals and volunteers working with Holocaust survivors are often unaware of their basic rights and cannot guide these elderly people through the bureaucratic maze. They know only about their own areas of expertise, and cannot provide survivors with a complete picture of their rights.
Elderly Holocaust survivors are left with many questions and few answers. Taking full advantage of their rights would allow them to live out their lives with dignity and comfort. We can help them – and we must!
Until recently, Israel lacked official sources of information about the full array of Holocaust survivors' rights. There was no single, comprehensive government information center to advise survivors about what is due to them.

We're here to help

Aviv LeNitzolei HaShoah ("Spring for Holocaust Survivors"), a non-profit organization, was founded in 2007 to help Holocaust survivors in Israel receive everything they are entitled to.
The organization is headed by Aviva Silberman, an attorney with 18 years of experience in the field of Holocaust survivor rights. Our main activity is instructing professionals, volunteers, Holocaust survivors and their families about how to realize their rights. We work to disseminate and make accessible information on the subject, often achieving a significant improvement in the survivors' FINANCIAL status.
Aviv LeNitzolei HaShoah is the only agency in Israel that trains volunteers, professionals and Holocaust survivors in all aspects of the rights of survivors. Our goal is to bring information to both professionals and survivors as quickly as possible.  Our dream is that all Holocaust survivors will be able to live their lives with dignity and comfort, and that they receive respectful and proper treatment from the various agencies assisting them.
Among our many activities and with our dedicated team of advocates and volunteers- as of January 2013 Aviv LeNitzolei HaShoah succeeded in guiding survivors to receive more than more than 140,000,000 NIS (US$ 38,000,000) due to them from Israeli and German institutions
  • We initiated an Internet site in order to reply to all questions, free of charge. More than 300,000visitors entered our site until today.
  • We have developed special instructional materials, making it possible to understand all the rights of Holocaust survivors in Israel.
  • We have been training volunteers from the Kibbutz Movement, with the cooperation of Yad Vashem – which, with our professional guidance, helps approximately 6,000 Holocaust survivors living on kibbutzim to realize their rights.
  • We trained 8500 volunteers and professionals who helped over 73,000 Holocaust survivors.
  • We answered over 26,000 aid requests of survivors and their families.
  • We gave lectures to Holocaust survivors and held many Rights Realization Days all over the country.
  • We send a monthly newsletter to caregivers with updates, hints and tips on Holocaust survivors' rights.
  • We have initiated radio programs providing important information for Holocaust survivors, as well as question-and-answer programs for survivors.
The services we provide to survivors are free of charge. We believe they are entitled to receive all of their rights, with no commission or membership fee.
In addition-
On November 13, 2012 an event honoring Aviv LeNitzolei HaShoah was held at the Knesset by MK  Zeev Bielski, Chairman of the Knesset parliamentary caucus for Holocaust survivors. to read the speech given by Chairperson Adv. Aviva Silberman at the event press here.

How you can help

Because we do not take MONEY for our services, Aviv LeNitzolei HaShoah now urgently requires additional contributions in order to function and continue its important work and significant assistance for Holocaust survivors.
Our dream is that all Holocaust survivors will be able to live their lives with the dignity and comfort they deserve. Join us!
Help us help the Holocaust survivors!
It is my great hope that we will have the resources to go on, and even increase our activities.
